Doesn’t Microsoft back up my Microsoft 365 data?
No. Microsoft stores your data and keeps it available, but they don’t back it up. They’re responsible for the availability and integrity of their systems, not for protecting you against accidental deletion, ransomware, or malicious insiders. You need your own backup.
How often should we back up?
We recommend daily backups for most businesses. For very large datasets or businesses with high transaction volumes, more frequent backups (or transaction-log replication) make sense. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your data and how much you can afford to lose between backups.
